CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Four year old Javion Berry and his mom Tonishia posed for a picture in his hospital room at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.  This was a moment that almost didn't happen.  A good Samaritan said Javion didn't have a pulse when she pulled him from the water at Euclid Beach.

"I can't cry anymore.  I don't know how to feel," said Tonisha Berry.

Berry says something suddenly went wrong when she and her son and her boyfriend were playing in somewhat shallow water at Euclid Beach.  Suddenly a strong current separated Javion and her boyfriend Traveno Sledge. Kathleen Halloway heard the cries for help and saw Javion Floating.

"I ran into the water with my clothes on and got him.  When I got to him and flipped him over he was unresponsive. So I was getting nervous," said Kathleen Halloway.

Halloway pulled Jayvion to shore and performed CPR with another man.

Sadly, Traveno Sledge wasn't found until an hour later, and later died. Halloway got to reunite with Jayvion's mom Monday, for the first time since that terrible night.

"Just be careful. Watch your kids.  I couldn't prevent it.  It's not preventable.  Can't nobody prevent it," added Tonisha.
