LAKE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

Judgment day for the drunk driver who killed a Willoughby Police officer.

Scott Leland pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and OVI in July, and was sentenced to 48 months in prison on Monday morning.

Officer Jason Gresko was killed in the line of duty on September 21, 2012 when his cruiser collided with Leland's pick-up truck while he was responding to an emergency call. Leland had a BAC of .14.

Leland apologized to the Gresko family in court, and said he was ready to accept his punishment. Leland's attorney asked for a one-year sentence, but Judge Joseph Gibson handed down a stricter sentence.

Gresko is survived by his wife and young daughter.
