Police are searching for a suspect accused of stealing a vehicle from a car lot and sending officers on a high speed chase on Sunday afternoon.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says that a 2005 tan Ford Excursion was stolen from the lot of Weinle Auto Sales around 1:32 p.m.
Shortly after the vehicle was stolen, a Green Township cruiser spotted the vehicle and pursued it going eastbound on Harrison Avenue.
Police say the suspect turned south on Weirman Avenue, traveling the wrong way. The officer continued to pursue the vehicle through the city of Cheviot to Montana Avenue.
Officers say that when the driver of the vehicle attempted to turn eastbound on Westwood Northern Blvd. from Montana Avenue the vehicle crossed double yellow lines and struck a City of Cincinnati cruiser that was stopped at a red light.
The suspect continued and turned onto Ferncroft Drive where the vehicle exited the roadway and proceeded down a hill before crashing into the woodline.
Authorities say that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot near the rear of 3400 Ferncroft.
Police conducted a search but were unable to locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as a black male, 20-25 year old, and possibly wearing a white t-shirt. Police are also searching for a maroon two-door Chrysler Sebring that the suspect arrived to the area of the dealership in.
Anyone with information about this crime should call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
