Route 66 re-opened following crash

EAST HAMPTON, CT (WFSB) -

Parts of Route 66 in East Hampton have been reopened following an early morning crash at the intersection of Route 16.

According to officials, a two-car crash closed the road near the intersection of Keighley Pond Road and Route 66 around 5:30 a.m.

Emergency crews said the two cars collided head on, and one car briefly caught fire. 

One driver was taken to Hartford Hospital via Life Star and the other was transported by ambulance for their injuries. The extent of those injuries is unknown.
