They'll see you before you see them. That's the message law enforcement are sending across the country to crack down on impaired driving.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, each year nearly 10,000 people die on the road due to drunk driving. Police forces in every state are teaming up for the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, including authorities in the Tri-State.
The campaign runs August 16 through Labor Day.
Departments receive additional funding during this period to pay for increased patrols and focus on drivers who are impaired by alcohol, drugs and other distractions like texting.
