Families of Anthony Sowell's victims to appeal lawsuit against Cleveland
Families of Anthony Sowell's victims
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Some family members of the victims of Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell are filing an appeal to a lawsuit against the city.
Family members originally sued Cleveland back in 2010, claiming police didn't do enough to monitor Sowell since he was a sex offender. Now, they're adding to that lawsuit, claiming the city didn't do enough to look for the missing victims.
Sowell is sitting on death row for killing 11 women. He kept the bodies in and around his Imperial Avenue house on Cleveland's east side. Police found the bodies in 2009, and Sowell was convicted in 2011.
Sowell's house has since been torn down, and community members are working together on plans to memorialize the victims. Plans include a park, benches, special landscaping, memorial walls and more.
