Authorities say a U.S. Postal worker was one of two drivers injured when their stuck head-on in Avondale Saturday.

Maricopa County Sheriff's office spokesman Chris Hegstrom said the collision happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 107th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

Hegstrom said a vehicle traveling westbound on Lower Buckeye Road crossed the median, and hit an eastbound U.S. Postal truck.

Both drivers were injured and taken to a local hospital, said Hegstrom.

Hegstrom said driver impairment is not considered a factor in the collision.

The investigation closed the road for a number of hours.
