KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A crowd of teens, tweens and even parents are all making their way to the Sprint Center on Friday night to catch one of the hottest boy bands around.

If you haven't heard of One Direction, just ask any teenage girl. Their two albums have sold millions of copies worldwide. While the concert at the Sprint Center is officially sold out, a search for tickets online shows them going for $130 apiece and higher.

In anticipation of large crowds comprised of younger fans expected to attend the One Direction concert, the Kansas City Police Department will be closing some streets around the Sprint Center.

Grand Boulevard will close from 13th Street to Truman Road at 6 p.m. (or earlier at the discretion of the police department). The street closure will remain in place until following the concert.

Concert guests who will be dropped off and picked up for the concert should use the Oak Street Entrance located on the east side of Sprint Center. Following the show, all guests waiting to be picked up will be directed to the Oak Street Entrance.

Police also addressed parents' concerns about the concert letting out about a half hour before the city's curfew.

KCPD said as long as kids under 18 are making their way to cars or on their way home, officers will not cite anyone. But if minors are hanging around for an unreasonable amount of time after the concert ends, police will enforce the curfew.

Starting in the afternoon, merchandise tents were buzzing and parents said the concert has been a major expense in their households.

"Let me tell you this is an expensive concert. Tickets can range anywhere from $200. I've seen them go up to $1,500 a ticket," David Green said. "I paid $200 so that's a 'good dad award.'"

One woman even said she bought safe to put the tickets in after purchasing them a year ago for fear of the house burning down.

And their kids used every excuse to convince their parents to let them attend.

"It was my birthday two days ago so that was my excuse, 'well, it's my birthday, you should let me go,'" said 13-year-old Aspyn Green.

Aspyn's brother and father were good sports, too, as they waited amongst the tween crowd with Aspyn.

Another entire family drove down from Decatur, IL, for the big show.

Groups started forming outside the Sprint Center at 1 p.m. in hopes of getting a glimpse of the British boy band. Doors to the Sprint Center are scheduled to open at 6 p.m. with the band Five Seconds of Summer starting about 7:30 p.m. and One Direction should take the stage about 8:30 p.m.
