GOODYEAR, AZ (CBS5) -

A Goodyear police detective has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 12-year-old girl a decade ago.

Jose Jesus Roman, 52, was arrested by Maricopa County sheriff's deputies July 1 at Goodyear's main police patrol station, Goodyear police said.

Roman was being held without bail in a Maricopa County Jail on multiple counts of sexual conduct with a minor, molestation of a child, sexual abuse and indecent exposure, according to court documents.

The victim, now 22 years old, told police Roman molested and had sex with her at his home in Tonopah and at another home in Glendale from 2003 to 2006.

Roman denied the allegations, and was subjected to a polygraph examination "which resulted in no decision … indicating no truthful or untruthful determination," court records show.

Roman admitted in two recorded conversations with his wife on June 27 the allegations were true and provided details that "only an active participant would know," police said.

Roman is a 19-year veteran of the Goodyear Police Department. He has worked in the Investigations Division of the department since 2006, according to the police department.

Lisa Kutis of the Goodyear Police Department said Roman has been on unpaid administrative leave since May 10 when police became aware of the alleged crimes. She said the investigation continues.
