Police said a person has serious injuries after being shot in a barber shop parking lot Friday afternoon.
The man had come to get a haircut when someone fired numerous bullets into his vehicle where he was sitting, police said.
The man was rushed to an area hospital where he is in critical condition.
The shooting was reported about 1:50 p.m. at 43rd Street and Indiana Avenue. Tactical units helped search nearby homes, but a suspect was not found.
"Preliminary statements are indicating to us that someone walked up to him in the car and shot at him several times with possibly a rifle and took off on foot," Capt. Tye Grant of the Kansas City Police Department said.
Police are interviewing witnesses in hopes of getting closer to making an arrest. Police have not identified a motive.
