VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A lucky local teenager is riding in style after winning Dick Hannah's Strive 2 Drive sweepstakes.

Andrew Nevue, a sophomore at Skyview High School, won a new car. He's 15 years old and has his learner's permit, so he'll have to wait until December to get his license.

In the meantime, Nevue said he'll let his parents drive the car.

"It seems kind of unreal. I wasn't expecting it at all," Nevue said. "It's pretty crazy."

Students became eligible for the contest by having a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or by improving their GPA by a half-point during the school year to register.

Thousands of high school students and their families turned out for the drawing at the Washington State University Amphitheater in Vancouver.

FOX 12's Ben Senger and Sophie Soong helped announce the winner.
