Free Slurpee Day leads to scuffle at local 7-Eleven

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A festive day full of free Slurpees turned into a fight at a local 7-Eleven store.

Vancouver police were called out to a disturbance at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the location on Northeast 112th Avenue and 51st Circle.

A police spokeswoman said a 29-year-old man dumped a Slurpee on the head of an employee during a confrontation. Officers arrived and gave the man a warning, but he was not arrested.

Police said the man wanted to go back inside and apologize, but officers advised him it was a better idea to just move on.

Every year on July 11, or 7/11, the national convenience store chain offers free Slurpees to customers.

Investigators did not say what led to Thursday's confrontation.
