Police: Deli worker and roommate staged armed robbery

Posted: Updated:

An armed robbery caught on camera at Dotty's Deli in Beaverton was a hoax, according to police.

Beaverton police previously released surveillance video of the supposed crime that occurred at 2 a.m. July 2 in the deli at 2654 S.W. Cedar Hills Blvd. Officers asked for help locating the suspect after a K-9 team was unable to track him down.

The clerk, identified as Raymond Wille, 23, initially told police he was outside smoking a cigarette when a masked suspect approached him, and put a gun to the back of his head. The gunman led Wille back into the business, where he took an undisclosed amount of cash, and ran away.

Now investigators say the whole thing was staged.

Wille was arrested and charged with theft Monday. His roommate, Sonny Her, 29, was arrested Wednesday on theft charges. They were both cited and not booked into jail.

A third suspect, the one portraying the armed robber in the surveillance video, has not yet been caught.
