INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

A man is dead after a shooting in an Independence neighborhood.

Police were called about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, to the area of College Street and Crysler Avenue for a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been injured. The victim was driving a van, when he hit a utility pole and then hit two houses.

The injured man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as 20-year-old Bryan Arreola.

Police said Arreola was shot following a physical altercation in the street just east of the intersection of Crysler and College.

Officers said they questioned two subjects of interest, but released them pending further investigation.
