Police: Husband fled to Egypt after wife killed, body dumped
Madiha E. Roshdy & Alaa Youssef
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Metro detectives believe a Nashville man fled to Egypt after his wife was killed and her body was dumped along Interstate 65 in Kentucky.
The body of Madiha E. Roshdy, 27, was found by a mowing crew May 29 on the shoulder of the interstate near Elizabethtown, KY.
Detectives believe she was murdered in Davidson County a few days before her body was discovered.
It was determined that she suffered blunt force trauma to her head.
Roshdy was reported as a missing on the evening of June 20 by a friend who learned that family members in Egypt were concerned for her welfare.
Police spoke by telephone with family members in Egypt through an interpreter last week and entered Roshdy's information into a national law enforcement database. The Kentucky connection was then established.
Police have searched a Millwood Drive apartment that Roshdy shared with her husband and two daughters, both younger than the age of 10.
Detectives believe it's likely that Roshdy was killed in the apartment and later dumped on the side of the interstate in Kentucky.
Roshdy last reported for work at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel on Old Hickory Boulevard at I-65 in South Nashville on May 25. She was last seen by neighbors at Millwood Manor Apartments on Millwood Drive on May 26.
Her husband, Alaa Youssef, 39, who worked for Tyson Foods in Shelbyville, flew out of Nashville with the couple's two daughters on June 7. They arrived in Cairo, Egypt, on June 8.
Youssef is considered to be a suspect in Roshdy's death and is wanted on a charge of criminal homicide.
