Man spotted peeping on women in Nashville park bathroom

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A relaxing night under the stars turned into a frightening experience for visitors earlier this month at a popular Nashville campground.

Two nights in a row at the Seven Points campground in Hermitage, a peeping Tom has appeared at the women's shower house. Now, campers are on the lookout and police are searching for a suspect.

According to the police report, one woman says a man peaked under her shower stall about 9 p.m. June 15. The woman inside screamed, and he ran away.

But, on the way out, the 21-year-old victim says the man then grabbed her underwear.

Just one night prior, a similar thing happened in the shower, but this time the victim was a 12-year-old girl.

Both young ladies gave similar descriptions to Metro police.

"The suspect is a white man, 6' tall maybe wearing camouflage tennis shoes," said Metro police spokeswoman Kris Mumford.

Seven Points is usually a quiet, crime-free place.

"It's one of the nicer campgrounds in the area," said camper Kimberly Koralewski.

Koralewski has camped at Seven Points for more than 20 years.

"When you go camping, you feel like you're in a family-safe environment. You feel secure, and to feel that you're not so secure anymore, that this could happen, is really unnerving," she said.

Metro police and the parks police will step up their presence at the campground, which is a Metro park but operated by the Army Corps of Engineers.

"In light of these two recent incidences, the Hermitage commander has directed extra patrols at night in that park area," Mumford said.

There's also now a sign posted on the bathroom door, advising women to use the shower and bathroom facilities in groups of two or more, hoping there's safety in numbers.

A spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers said they are not aware of safety concerns at any of their other campgrounds.
