EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The East Hartford Police Department had to be closed as precaution after a man brought World War II-era ammunition to police headquarters Friday afternoon.

An unidentified man found old ammunition in his home while he was cleaning his residence.

He brought the items to the police department around 12:30 p.m., and officers closed the entrance to police headquarters.

The Hartford Bomb Squad went to the police headquarters, and after their investigation, ammunition was determined to be non-explosive and everyone was allowed back in the building.
