HARRISONVILLE, MO (KCTV) -

A family outing turned tragic on Father's Day.

Authorities responded to a pond in rural Harrisonville where a 17-year-old teen drowned. This occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday.

He and a man in his 20s were riding a jet ski on a several acre pond near the 31700 block of South McClain Road. Authorities said neither were wearing a life jacket.

When both were thrown off the jet ski, they began to struggle to swim. The older man was able to make it back to the jet ski and hang on until help arrived.

However, the teen, Kalan M. Littlefield of Kingsville, drowned. His body was later recovered.
