Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders says drugs were likely involved in a deadly home invasion in Fort Mitchell that left an 18-year-old woman dead.

Michaela Briede, 18, was killed on May 28 in her apartment on West Chelsea Circle.

"The investigation indicates those responsible for the death of Miss Briede were looking for narcotics and/or money associated with narcotics," Sanders said in an email to FOX19.

Briede was an honor student and graduated in 2012 from Grant County High School and believed to be enrolled at Thomas More College.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
