Much of northern Arizona, including all of the Kaibab and Coconino National Forests, are under a red-flag warning until 8 p.m. today because of strong winds and low relative humidity, according to the National Weather Service.
In order to reduce preventable human-caused fires, campfire and smoking restrictions are in effect on the entire Coconino National Forest and on the Williams and Tusayan Ranger Districts of the Kaibab National Forest.
The North Kaibab Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest has yet to issue fire restrictions.
At this time of year, under the current fire restrictions, fires are allowed in developed campgrounds only. However, during red-flag warning conditions, visitors are advised to refrain from having fires anywhere on the forest, including in developed campgrounds.
Campfire advisories remain in effect until the warning ends.
