Arizona pig shocks swine scene at World Pork Expo

She's only 7 months old, a little shy and weighs over 330 pounds. But the judges couldn't stop commenting on her body structure, rib cage, gait and even her bone size.

That's some pig. And she's now a World Champion.

"Kryptonite" and her owner, 17-year-old Josh Slade, from Mesa, sent shock waves through the pork industry by becoming the first Arizonan ever to win champion honors in the Crossbred Division at the World Pork Expo in Iowa.

Slade's mom Kelly tells CBS 5 News that the senior from Mountain View High School has been showing hogs for seven years with his 4-H Club. They formed the group themselves because the school does not have a Future Farmers of America program.

She also says Kryptonite will not be seen at a breakfast table anytime soon. She will actually bring home the "bacon" with breeding fees. She predicts the gilt will be bred at her next heat cycle in the next few weeks.
