Boy, 12, hit and killed by train identified

HARTWELL, OH (FOX19) -

A 12-year-old boy who was killed after being struck by a train in Hartwell on Friday evening has been identified.

According to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office, James Trent, Jr., 12, of Arlington Heights, was struck and killed on the tracks in the area of Sheehan Avenue around 7:30 p.m.

According to authorities, the boy was walking near the train tracks with another person when he was struck.

The train then came to a stop approximately 100 feet from the scene.

Officers are still trying to piece together the exact circumstances of the accident and plan to access surveillance footage on the train.
