A 14-year-old boy has been arrested at the Port of Nogales for trying to smuggling methamphetamine and cocaine into the U.S. Tuesday.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the teen tried to cross into the U.S. through the Morley Pedestrian Gate with what looked like grocery items in a bag, but it caught officers' attention. Officers opened cans labeled "Maiz Para Pozole" and found six packages containing six pounds of methamphetamine and nearly six grams of cocaine. The total value of the drugs was more than $91,200, according to CBP.
The boy was referred to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
Just hours before his arrest, a 50-year-old woman was arrested at the port for having 10 packages of meth in the dashboard of her Buick sedan. CBP said the drugs in the car were worth nearly $87,000.
