AHWATUKEE, AZ (CBS5) -

A traffic stop near Tonopah on Monday led Department of Public Safety officers to an Ahwatukee house, where they found more than 100 marijuana plants Tuesday morning.

Officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office found the plants and what they called "elaborate equipment" associated with a sophisticated growing operation after they served a search warrant at the home at 16830 S. Yellow Court.

Officers also found several weapons, including an AK-47 assault rifle and handguns.

The investigation began after DPS officers found seven pounds of high-grade marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near Tonopah on Tuesday, according to a DPS spokesman.

Johnny Lee, 24, of Ahwatukee, was arrested and could face multiple charges, including transportation and cultivation of marijuana, money laundering and weapons charges.
