The summer heat is a perfect reason to take a dip in the pool and that's what worries the Phoenix Fire Department.
In recent days, the Phoenix Fire Department has seen a spike in the number of drowning incidents it has responded to.
"These scenes are tragic for everyone involved," said Capt. Jonathan Jacobs.
On Tuesday, firefighters and volunteers will be conducting a drowning prevention community outreach walk in the area of 75th Avenue and Thomas Road. This is the neighborhood, where less than a week ago, a 2-year-old girl drowned in her family's backyard swimming pool. The girl's grandmother was at the home, but did not realize her granddaughter was in the pool until it was too late.
The area of the walk will be bounded by 75th Avenue to 83rd Avenue from Thomas Road to Osborn.
