TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

A former wrestling coach is behind bars on suspicion of body slamming a Tempe police officer.

Cory Watson, along with another person, was caught allegedly smoking marijuana on Saturday near Mill Avenue and Sixth Avenue in Tempe.

When Tempe bike police officers attempted to arrest Watson and the other man, police said Watson attacked the officers. Watson was shocked with a stun gun after he body slammed one of the officers, according to Tempe police.

Tempe police confirmed that Watson was a part-time employee for Phoenix Christian Senior High School earlier this year and worked as an assistant wrestling coach.  Phoenix Christian representatives tell CBS 5 Watson's contract expired in February of this year.

The officers involved in the altercation with Watson are both fine.

Watson has been charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.

Officials at Phoenix Christian school released this statement on Tuesday:

"Phoenix Christian was saddened to hear about the recent arrest of its former employee, Cory Watson. We are concerned for Mr. Watson, are praying for him and his family, and are cooperating with authorities as this situation unfolds.

"Mr. Watson served as a part-time, assistant wrestling coach for Phoenix Christian for about 10 weeks. His contract expired in early February, and he was not employed by the school at the time of his arrest. Phoenix Christian will be closely monitoring the case. If the investigation reveals that Mr. Watson committed the offenses for which he has been charged, those acts would cause him to be ineligible for future employment with Phoenix Christian.

"Because none of the allegations against Mr. Watson affected or involved any of Phoenix Christian's students, Phoenix Christian will decline further comment at this time."
