YUMA, AZ (AP) -

Authorities in Yuma are investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old man who may have tried to break into a home.

Yuma County Sheriff's officials say deputies responded to a home about 1:30 a.m. Monday on a report of a possible intruder inside the house.

When they arrived, they say a man was found dead inside the house with a single gunshot wound.

They say the homeowner claims he was awoken by the sounds of a possible intruder inside his house.

He armed himself and says he shot the intruder.

Sheriff's officials say the name of the victim is being withheld until his relatives are notified and the shooting case remains under investigation.

The name of the homeowner also hasn't been released yet by Yuma authorities.
