The Guilford Police Department is investigating an interrupted burglary at a home Sunday morning.
Police said the homeowners arrived home and found a man inside.
"There was a young fellow with a computer monitor under his arm," said the neighbor, who wished not to be identified. "The guy chasing him ran up to me and said that guys just burglarized my home, call the cops."
According to police a struggle ensued between one of the homeowners and the suspect, who then started to chase the burglar for a long distance before he was caught by a neighbor and held until police arrived.
"I grabbed him by the back of his shirt and yanked him down," the neighbor said. "And took the knife out of his pocket and threw it in the grass."
An accomplice was identified and located a short time later in Branford, police said.
"It doesn't really happen too often, quiet neighborhood relatively quiet town," the neighbor said. "Just defending my neighborhood, that's it."
Police arrested Matthew Kilbride, 24, of Branford who was charged with burglary, robbery, larceny, threatening, assault on an elderly person, criminal trespassing, carrying a dangerous weapon and breach of peace.
The alleged accomplice, Katherine Garcia, 23, of Monroe, was charged with conspiracy to commit the same charges as Kilbride.
