Two-alarm fire breaks out in Willimantic

Posted: Updated:
WILLIMANTIC, CT (WFSB) -

A two-alarm fire was reported in Willimantic Monday morning.

The fire broke out at the multi-family home before 8:30 a.m. on the top floor of the home, and emergency officials said a grandfather and his 18-year-old granddaughter received minor burns.

Everyone else inside the home was able to escape without injury.

While the fire was contained to the top floor of the home, the first floor suffered from water damage as crews worked to extinguish the flames, so it's likely residents won't be able to return home for some time.

The Connecticut chapter of the American Red Cross was reported to be at the scene assisting the residents.

No other information was released.
