Phoenix officials on Wednesday kicked off the city's heat relief efforts for the homeless, homebound seniors, the disabled, families and children during the scorching summer months.
Mayor Greg Stanton's annual "Call for Water" program encourages companies and individuals to donate water beginning Wednesday.
Last year, the city collected and distributed more than 210,000 bottles of water between June and September, according to Stanton's office.
The kickoff was at the City Hall Atrium, 200 W. Washington St.
