GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
A man has been arrested in a double shooting that left one woman dead and her boyfriend hurt.
Glendale police say they arrested 22-year-old Angelo Medina. Officials say a child custody dispute led to Medina shooting two people at the house near 59th Avenue and Glendale and that he fled the scene.
Paul Amarillas is in disbelief that he'll never see his cousin, Christina Marquez, again.
"I was raised with her, and I just remember a lot of good memories. I'm still in shock. I can't believe she's gone," he said.
Several officers made their way to the 42-year-old grandmother's house after she was killed Tuesday night. Police say Medina came right up to her front door.
"We just heard the gunshots and the screaming afterwards," said neighbor Felix Garcia.
"We know that from evidence at the scene that the person that did the shooting did it outside of the residence," said Glendale police Sgt. Brent Coombs.
All that's left of the crime scene are shattered windows riddled with bullet holes. Marquez's boyfriend was also shot.
"We're all devastated; we're all praying. We're just taking this one minute at a time," said Amarillas.
Amarillas believes Medina is Marquez's former son-in-law and a custody dispute between the suspect and the victim's daughter set him off.
"Apparently the mother took the kid without permission, he went ballistic and he lost it. He was looking for his son and came here to find him," Amarillas said.
