Vice President Joe Biden has arrived in Connecticut to deliver the keynote address at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's graduation ceremony.
Biden was greeted by a cannon-fire salute Wednesday after walking onto the field for the 132nd commencement of the service academy in New London.
The academy has about 940 cadets in its four-year program. Students graduate as junior officers with an obligation to serve five years in the Coast Guard.
In 2011, President Barack Obama delivered the keynote address at the academy's graduation. U.S. presidents traditionally address the graduating class at one of the federal service academies on a rotating basis.
Biden was in Connecticut earlier this year to rally support for the gun control proposals of Obama in the wake of the Newtown school shooting.
