A new report from the U.S. Department of Justice takes another shot at former U.S. Attorney for Arizona Dennis Burke.
Burke is accused of leaking information to the media, during the investigation of the botched federal gun operation called "Fast and Furious."
The report called Burke's actions "wholly unbefitting a U.S. attorney."
The report stated that Burke leaked information to a television news producer in an attempt to retaliate against the main whistle blower in the 'Fast and Furious' case.
The Phoenix operation, which began in 2009, involved Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents allowing more than 2,000 guns sold to suspected drug traffickers go back on the street.
Two of the guns were found at the scene of a shootout that killed U.S. Border patrol border agent Brian Terry.
According to the report: "There was substantial evidence that Burke's motive for disclosing the memorandum was to retaliate against Special Agent Dobson, who two weeks earlier had testified before a Congressional committee regarding his concerns about Fast and Furious."
Burke acknowledged the disclosure in 2011, and then resigned soon after.
There was never any disciplinary action taken.
The Arizona Bar Association is now investigating whether Burke violated their rules of professional conduct.
