SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Amy's Baking Company said legal and online threats have forced it to cancel a press conference Tuesday, but that it's grand reopening will take place as planned.

Owners of the Scottsdale bakery, Amy and Samy Bouzaglo, decided to pull the plug on a 1 p.m. news briefing after they received a letter from a litigation law firm representing a company that produces the TV show Kitchen Nightmares. [Click here to read the letter (PDF)]

The Fox program recently showed the Bouzaglos flipping out on customers and treating TV host Gordon Ramsay so poorly, he walked out. Allegations soon surfaced that the owners stole their wait staff's tips.

Their actions produced an extreme public backlash and people took to social media where the owners engaged them in more heated exchanges.

The Bouzaglos maintain their social media was hacked following the episode's airing. An incident report was filed with the Scottsdale Police Department.

The goal of Tuesday's grand re-opening at 5 p.m. is for customers to decide for themselves who is right about the company's performance - "a celebrity chef and national television show during May Sweeps or real customers that have been generous enough to support the restaurant through the recession," according to Rose+Moser+Allyn Public & Online Relations.

The bakery said trained security guards and off-duty police officers will be onsite.

"We are very upset by what has taken place, apologize about the acrimony that has ensued but now must fight back to save our business," Samy Bouzaglo said in a news release.

More than 1,000 reservations have been made since the grand re-opening was announced last week.

Ten percent of this week's proceeds will go to benefit the Megan Meier Foundation, an organization dedicated to combat the effects of cyber-bullying.

The Bouzaglos may soon be providing additional information on cyber-attacks leveled against them, including ones by an organized group, according to a news release.
