Police investigate double shooting in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, KS (KCTV) -

Two men are in custody after two men were shot in Lawrence.

It started about 3:40 a.m. Sunday when a fight broke out near Club Magic at West 24th and Alabama streets.

When officers arrived, they heard shots fired a few blocks north.

Right after that, a car driven by one of the victims who had been shot crashed into a police car at the McDonald's on 23rd Street.

Officers found a second victim at a house in the 800 block of Greever Terrace.

Lawrence police said the two men shot, ages 27 and 33, were both from Topeka. They were both transported to a Kansas City area hospital.

Lawrence police arrested a 20-year-old Topeka man on two counts of attempted first-degree murder. A 29-year-old Topeka is being held on a charge of domestic battery, which occurred during the incident, police said.

Both were taken into custody in Shawnee County and were transported to the Douglas County Jail.

In addition, a 22-year-old Topeka man was arrested in connection with the bar disturbance.
