KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Two children were sent to the hospital when a go-cart they were riding in collided with an SUV on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the wreck happened about 2:30 p.m. in the area of 55th Street and Cambridge Avenue.

Two boys, ages 7 and 12, were riding in the go-cart in a church parking lot when they accidentally went on the street. The go-cart collided with an SUV that was being driven by and one boy was ejected. The 7-year-old suffered a broken leg. The 12-year-old suffered unknown injuries.

"Both of them was lucky. If you hit a car moving in a go-kart running 25 to 30 miles per hour and hit him on the back wheel. That's the only reason. If they hit on the front, it would of been a lot worse," said Audrey Davis, the grandfather of the 12-year-old.

Both boys were taken to the hospital.
