Police arrested an 18-year-old driver accused of speeding and slamming into the side of a school bus full of children.

It happened around 3:20 p.m. Friday at Comstock Way and Brown Street in Woodburn.

The Woodburn School District's superintendent said several children suffered minor injuries and were treated for "bumps and bruises."

One student was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Many other children, however, were scared and crying after the crash, he said. Four students were released to their parents, while the rest were loaded onto a second school bus.

The bus involved in the crash was towed away from the scene.

The driver of the car was identified Friday night as Miguel Zamora, 18. He is charged with reckless driving and reckless endangerment. Woodburn police said more charges are likely in this case.

Investigators said speed appears to be the sole cause of the crash, with no signs of any other impairment. It's not yet clear how fast Zamora was driving.
