PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he wanted to set the record straight that convicted killer Jodi Arias is not living a cushy life behind bars.
"There's been a lot of misinformation about this jail system, and I want to let the media and the public know what the truth is,"said Arpaio.
Arias' new maximum security cell at the Estrella Jail in Phoenix is 12' long and 7' wide and has two bunks, but Arias does not have a roommate.
CBS 5 News was invited in for a tour and spotted an assortment of newspapers, magazines files and books inside Arias' cell.
The biggest life change for Arias since her murder conviction last week is that instead of 16 hours of free time outside her cell, Arias now has only one hour to walk around a common area and make phone calls.
Arpaio said that Arias gets two meals a day, a dry lunch that includes a bag of peanut butter and a hot meal that looks includes soy casserole, beans and vegetables.
It's not exactly fine dining, Arpaio said.
"I'm not going to let anyone think this is a country club," he said.
