Suspects shot at after trying to run over Raytown officer

Posted: Updated:

Authorities say they were forced to shoot at two men after they tried to run over an officer.

Police were forced to fire shots at a fleeing driver who tried to hit an officer, authorities said.

Raytown police were called about 11 p.m. Monday to a stealing in progress in the 5400 block of Blue Ridge Cutoff.

When the first officer arrived and approached the suspect vehicle, the driver tried to back into the officer's car.

Shots were fired, and the suspect vehicle fled, crashing into another vehicle in the area of Sni-A-Bar and Blue Ridge Cutoff. Police do not believe anyone was struck in the shooting.

Two people in the car that was hit were transported to the hospital. The suspects ran off into the woods.

Officers are still searching for the driver and passenger in the suspect vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Raytown Police Department at 816-737-6016.
