On Monday students at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School are making good on a promise they made to their teacher months ago. One they made in honor of sixth grade teacher, Cindy Cox. Cox has been battling breast cancer since last July.
Twenty-five students, teachers and parents donated their hair to Pink Heart Funds so it could be made into wigs for others battling cancer.
Cox says her students have helped make her journey a positive experience.
"It doesn't feel like it's been cancer. It's just been something that we can give back a little bit to others who otherwise wouldn't have it. We have a great support system here and I am very, very blessed I have the support system that I have," Cox said.
Some students who cut their hair say they are already looking forward to cutting it again once it grows out. The school hopes to make it a May tradition.
