NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Despite retracting support for a water and snow park project in Nashville last year, singer Dolly Parton said Thursday she still wants to build some sort of park in Music City.
Parton announced in January 2012 plans to build a 114-acre park near Opryland but later pulled her support in September.
Parton said she was disappointed, but understood. She said Gaylord just needed to do business differently than her company, but she still has plans for Nashville.
"But I wish them well. They wish us well. No hard feelings there. I was just disappointed that I disappointed the local folks there. But we still intend to do something in Nashville at some point," she said. "That's my home, too. This is my first home. Nashville's been my home since 1964. My husband and his family's from there."
She told Channel 4 she envisions having a park in a different area of Nashville, and it would not have the same theme as the one she supported last year.
Parton did not give a timeline on when more details would be released.
"No idea when, but we're still in planning. We're still doing research. We're just having to reshuffle now that that particular deal didn't go down. We'd spent a lot of time on that, so we just have to reshuffle and relook, but someday I'll get down there with something wonderful for the local people," she said.
Right now, Parton is busy gearing up for the 28th season of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, which will feature a new water coaster ride and new shows.
"We've added what we call River Rush. It's a water coaster ride. And it goes up, I guess, about four floors, or stories, and then drops straight down, goes around about four times and you get good and wet and you go through these tunnels. They're telling me it's a lot of fun. I'll never know, because I don't ride them," she said, laughing.
Parton added she is also in talks to do a TV show, she may tour next year, she's working on musical about her life and a movie may also be in the works.
