CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Imagine waking up to a camel on your deck?

"Dot" the camel spent Wednesday morning walking free in Cape Girardeau's Whispering Oaks subdivision.

"Dot" got loose from the 5-H ranch on County Road 618 early Wednesday morning.

Vicki Lantz owns the nearby Lazy-L Safari Park.

Lantz says "Dot" belongs to either her brother or mother.

She is not sure how "Dot" got free, but she didn't stay on the run too long. They raise camels and other exotic animals at the 5-H ranch.

But unlike Lazy L Safari Park, the 5-H is not open to the public.
