Forgery suspect in custody after brief standoff

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Jackson County Sheriff's deputies successfully negotiated with a forgery suspect to turn himself in.

The suspect was holed up inside a home near Dodgion and Gudgell streets in Independence. Deputies tried to serve the warrant before 11 a.m. but the man refused to come out.

After obtaining a search warrant for the home, the officers were able to get the man into custody without anyone being hurt, a sheriff's department spokeswoman said.
