Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating a possible pipe bomb at a home in Liberty Thursday evening.

The bomb squad is at a home located at 2300 State Hwy. H. Men dressed from head to toe in full bomb suits are visible from Chopper5 walking around the home's backyard.

Police said a mother came home to find her 13-year-old son putting together a pipe bomb and she called police about 3:30 p.m. The pipe bomb was made with a PVC pipe and fireworks and was roughly four inches long and one inch wide.

According to police, there were other siblings in the home at the time. The 13-year-old is in police custody.

Members of the Kansas City Police Department's bomb and arson squad are working to render the device safe.
