A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with three teens being shot outside a community center, and a second suspect is being sought.
The three teens shot had just performed community service at the Joe E. Amayo Sr. Argentine Community Center in the 2500 block of Metropolitan Avenue. The victims and suspected shooters had gang ties, police said.
More than 20 shots were fired from a large-caliber handgun, authorities said. Some of the bullets pierced nearby homes and vehicles.
Kyle C. Longdon of KCK was charged Thursday with three counts of aggravated battery and one count of criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied building and one count of criminal discharge of a firearm into an unoccupied dwelling.
Longdon is being held on a $250,000 bond.
The second suspect is being sought. If you have any information, particularly in identifying other suspects, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS or Roger Villanueva of the Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office at 913-573-2851.
