Norwalk Fire Deputy Chief Stephen Shay said a driver was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 early Thursday morning.
The fire department responded to the crash on I-95 northbound at the exit 13 off ramp around 4:20 a.m. Shay says the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, trapping the driver inside.
According to a Department of Transportation alert, the vehicle caught fire after crashing.
Firefighters extricated the driver, who was later pronounced dead on scene.
The driver's identity has not been released at this time.
