Deputy on motorcycle struck by car

WASHINGTON COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A Portland-area man was cited with two charges after he hit a Washington County Sheriff's Office motorcycle deputy.

It happened Tuesday at about 12:45 p.m. on the Northwest Brookwood Parkway overpass above Highway 26. Deputy Brian Upton was parked on the southbound shoulder when a car exiting the highway attempted to pass another car using the shoulder and hit the motorcycle, according to authorities.

The deputy suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver, Lin Peng, was not hurt. He is being cited with reckless driving and assault. Oregon State Police are now investigating the crash.
