KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Police were called to a school bus that was taking students home after a fight was reported.

The bus, belonging to Durham School Services, was stopped in the area of East 107th Street and West Longview Parkway. The bus was carrying middle schoolers at Smith-Hale in the Hickman Mills School District.

A spokesman for the school district said a disagreement from earlier in the day carried over to the bus ride home. District officials had handled the earlier incident. During the bus ride, a boy called a girl a name and she punched the boy several times. He was treated by paramedics for superficial facial injuries, and is expected to be OK, a spokesman said.

Parents of the students involved came to the scene.

Remaining students were transferred to another bus.

Durham School Services is a private company that contracts to provide bus services to area school districts, including Hickman-Mills.
