VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

The Vancouver Police Department is trying to get the word out about their new web page that posts surveillance pictures of alleged thieves for the public to identify.

The modern-day "Wanted Poster" lists the pictures, a brief description of the crime and the contact information for the officer in charge.

The site went live a few weeks ago. Spokeswoman Kim Kapp said just 24 hours later, a woman pictured on the site called police to turn herself in.

"The person who was the lead on the case couldn't believe it," Kapp said.
