Restaurant offers patrons a fun look at Kansas Speedway races

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

NASCAR time trials start Friday morning at the Kansas Speedway and a person doesn't have to be at the track to hear the engines roar. One place is drawing a different crowd to NASCAR, more of the wining and dining type.

There's a restaurant that has an entirely different experience than anyone will get on the bleachers. Look above the slot machines at Hollywood Casino and on the second floor people will find a high-end experience they don't necessarily see at the tracks.

"Here at Turn 2 I really call it the sexiest sports bar you'll ever be in," said Steve Moberly, the director of food and beverage for the restaurant.

Besides the wine, craft beers, lobster dishes and flat screens along every wall and tabletop, visitors will want to check out the view - it's called Turn 2 for a reason.

The balcony hovers above the second turn of the Kansas Speedway. It's the only restaurant in the country that boasts the type of views.

"You can come out, walk out, see the race, hear the sounds. You can walk back in, watch TV, be comfortable, go back out to see the environment," said Dean Doria, the vice president of marketing at Hollywood Casino.

Friday, starting at 11 a.m., for the price of a meal or a drink, anyone can catch a first glimpse of the cars circling the race course.

"They're doing the testing and then go in and do the time trials in the afternoon," Doria said.

During the races this weekend, the restaurant is only open to VIP customers, but the stylish after-party is open to all.

Security is heightened at the casino and no backpacks are allowed.
